A life inspired.

As you might already know, my dad, (Tommy Rybovich, the ultimate minimalist!) was impossible to please. My mother’s exasperating attempts to chose things for the house, like upholstery or china patterns, would routinely be met with my dad’s deep sigh of dissatisfaction.  His taste was for clean modern design, but unfortunately ‘modern & minimalist’ was impossible to find in the 1950’s small-town of West Palm Beach when I was growing up!

In keeping with my father’s passion for extraordinary craftsmanship and contemporary design, I’m delighted to announce Pat Rybovich Classic, a soon-to-be launched collection created with my dad’s design sensibility in mind. The very first items on display at the Rybovich book website will be an exclusive collection of fine jewelry by master jeweler Joe Chioffe.  Classic and timeless, the series is created in a limited quantity to appeal to those who appreciate Rybovich design. I’m thrilled to showcase Joe’s jewelry collection created exclusively for Pat Rybovich Classic—something I think my dad would have loved to give as a surprise for my mom. 

About the artist: Joe Chioffe

Jewelry designer and long time (34 year) owner of vintage Rybovich Hull #25, Joseph Chioffe combines his passion for jewelry design with his love of Rybovich boats in this exclusive Rybovich-inspired jewelry collection!  A designer and manufacturer of jewelry for over 50 years, Joe’s extraordinary creations have been featured by some of the world’s finest jewelry stores: Cartier, Bailey Banks & Biddle, and Tiffany. 

“Making jewelry is in my blood” Joe remarks and his presentation of Rybovich jewelry made especially for Pat Rybovich Classic illustrates his life’s passion perfectly.  His display of fine jewelry is inspired by such iconic designs as my dad’s double handrail and the angelfish vent—signature items that have been a part of the Rybovich story since the 1949 splash of Hull #2.

The Classic Rybovich Life Ring  

This exquisite collection features the Rybovich Life Ring, which has traditionally displayed the boat’s name since the 1940’s.  Never content with the ordinary, Joe’s unique toggle design is inspired by the Rybovich helm control lever!  On a vintage Rybovich boat, even the hardware was custom-created and the toggle recreates this Rybovich design feature.

 The one-of-a-kind necklace and bracelet can be customized with your boat’s name and launch date engraved on the Life Ring.  Shown is a piece customized for Rybovich Hull #25, with “Proud Lady” and the year of her launch in 1957 stylishly engraved.  As each necklace and bracelet is created to order, this unique piece with your boat’s name and launch date is created as an heirloom to treasure!

The Double Handrail

The breathtaking sculpted bracelet and ring captures my dad’s innovative design for his gleaming varnished double-handrail—a signature Rybovich feature which has graced the Rybovich flying bridge since 1949.  Created for both men and women with meticulous attention to detail, the Double Handrail bracelet and ring are exquisitely hand-crafted in your choice of either Sterling Silver or Jeweler’s Bronze with gleaming 14K Gold.  A ‘must’ for every Rybovich aficionado!  

The Iconic Angelfish

Inspired by my aunt’s 1940’s design for Rybovich cabinet door vents, the classic Angelfish design finds new life in Joe’s capable hands! Using Old World craftsmanship to enhance its simple elegance, the angelfish design is created in a series of earrings, rings and cufflinks. The result is a timeless design that makes a subtle statement of the owner’s appreciation of this legendary brand.
