Here are some boating organizations that may be useful for enhancing your boating knowledge and safety. Most of these groups have local chapters that you can join.

 

Marine Trades Association of Maryland

- Enjoy the serenity of a quiet anchorage, the excitement of some of our larger port cities, or the resort-like atmosphere of our marinas. Michigan Boating Industries Association

- Welcome to the Michigan Boating Industries Association "Home Page" - a resource for boaters, and marine businesses. As a boater you will find products and services offered by reputable marine businesses; important safety information; interesting boating tips and ideas; and important calendar announcements for major boating events such as the Detroit Boat Show and the Spring Boating Expo. National Association of Marine Surveyors

- Since 1962, the National Association of Marine Surveyors, Inc. (NAMS), has served the marine survey profession by providing the maritime industry with recognized, highly qualified marine surveyors. NAMS members are dedicated to professional goals, including cooperation with interested parties and a free exchange information concerning current approved practices in the marine survey profession. NAMS members are required to maintain certification by participation in a professional recertification scheme, which is monitored annually.

National Marine Representatives Association

- The National Marine Representatives Association a national organization serving marine industry independent sales reps and the manufacturers who sell through reps. Founded in 1960, this professional association serves as an industry voice, networking tool and information source, promoting the benefits of utilizing independent marine reps for sales. NMRA also helps manufacturers find the right marine sales reps for their product lines.

National Marine Manufacturers Association

- NMMA members, more than 1,600 companies, produce every conceivable product used by recreational boaters. An estimated 80 percent of marine products used in North America are produced by NMMA members. Formed in 1979 in a merger between the Boating Industry Association of Chicago (BIA) and the National Association of Engine & Boat Manufacturers of New York (NAEBM), roots of the non-profit Association can be traced to 1904 when NAEBM was founded. Our Mission... NMMA is dedicated to creating, promoting and protecting an environment where members can achieve financial success through excellence in manufacturing, in selling, and in servicing their customers. To fulfill this mission, NMMA will devote its resources to 1.) Public policy advocacy, 2.) Promoting boating as a lifestyle, 3.) Enhancing the consumer experience, 4.) Education and Training, 5.) Building partnerships and strategic alliances and 6.) Effective communications

- Offered by the North Carolina Marine Trades Services, this site has been funded in part by The Golden LEAF Foundation, Progress Energy, NC Electric Membership cooperative and the ElectriCities of North Carolina. This site offers a database of NC marine businesses, marine trades training, education and certification workshops, information for business that may want to move to North Carolina as a business destination, water-based tourism, fishing tournaments, and water event calendar information by regions, business assistance programs, workshops, and professional training services, database of NC businesses that provide products, services and materials used by the NC marine business sector and jobs networking. Nova Scotia Boat Builders Association

- The Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association was established in 1998, to coincide with an announcement from the Canada / Nova Scotia Agreement on Economic Diversification (EDA) of $1.58m in funding to help the implementation of a 5 year plan to revitalize the boatbuilding industry in Nova Scotia. NSBA's mandate is to promote and protect the boatbuilding industry in Nova Scotia. NSBA encourages Nova Scotia's boatbuilding industry to diversify from producing fishing boats for the domestic market to building custom and semi-custom pleasure boats for export - particularly to the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. NSBA works with government and industry to develop and maintain consistent quality and standards for boat construction in Nova Scotia through appropriate regulations, policies, skills training, and certification. A Nova Scotia boat is built on a two-century tradition of quality, performance, and durability. From racing schooners like the legendary Bluenose to today's fast, high-tech planing powerboats, and including the popular Novi-boats. The National Safe Boating Council

- The National Safe Boating Council, Inc. (NSBC) was organized in September 1958 under the name National Safe Boating Committee. The NSBC presently has a membership of over 300 U.S. and Canadian organizations, all with an interest in boating safety and education. The NSBC membership is diverse, with approximately 65% of the membership being nonprofit organizations and 35% being for-profit organizations. The mission of the NSBC is to reduce accidents and enhance the boating experience. The NSBC is the foremost coalition for the advancement and promotion of safer boating through education. The National Safe Boating Council accomplishes this mission by conducting a series of on-going national campaigns to promote safe boating and by providing opportunities to work directly with national and international leaders in boating education and by improving the professional development of boating safety educators and by distributing safe boating information and by developing and recognizing outstanding boating safety programs an d by supporting research initiatives that strengthen boating education and safety awareness.
