Question 1

What kinds of used boats are for sale on The Marine Web?

Accepted Answer

Most listings are pre-owned saltwater fishing boats sold by Florida boat dealers. You will find center console boats, bay boats, dual consoles, sportfish convertibles, offshore catamarans and the occasional pontoon, from about 18 to 46 feet long. Brands include Boston Whaler, Sea Hunt, Scout, Pathfinder, Blackfin, Hydra-Sports, Cape Horn and Invincible, powered by Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki outboards or Caterpillar diesels.

Question 2

Who is selling the boats listed on this page?

Accepted Answer

Every boat on this page is listed by a boat dealer, not a private owner. The Marine Web does not sell boats itself. We show you the photos, specifications, price and location, and you deal directly with the listing dealer using the Call Us button on each boat’s page.

Question 3

How much do used boats for sale in Florida cost?

Accepted Answer

Current listings range from under $15,000 to just under $800,000. As a rough guide, 18 to 22 foot single-engine center consoles start under $30,000, 24 to 28 foot boats sit mostly between $50,000 and $130,000, and 33 foot and larger multi-engine offshore boats start around $170,000. Budget extra for sales tax, registration, insurance, storage and a survey.

Question 4

Should I get a marine survey before buying a used boat?

Accepted Answer

Yes. An independent marine surveyor checks the hull, deck, wiring, fuel system, steering and safety gear, and writes a report on condition and value. Lenders and insurers often ask for a survey on older or higher-value boats. Add a separate engine survey with compression tests and oil analysis. Choose a surveyor who works for you, not the seller.

Question 5

What does a repowered boat mean in a listing?

Accepted Answer

A repowered boat has newer engines fitted to an older hull, for example a 2007 hull with a 2018 outboard. A listing that shows a year range, such as 1988-2024, usually means an older hull that has been rebuilt or refit. Repowered boats can be good value. Ask for the engine purchase invoice, installation records and any remaining engine warranty.

Question 6

Can I buy a boat in Florida if I live in another state?

Accepted Answer

Yes, many out-of-state buyers shop Florida dealers for the wide choice of fishing boats. Arrange a trailer, a professional transporter or a delivery captain to bring the boat home. Florida has a nonresident sales tax exemption with strict rules about how quickly the boat must leave the state, so ask the dealer about it before you sign.

Question 7

Do I need a boating license to drive a boat in Florida?

Accepted Answer

Florida does not issue a boating license, but anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 must carry a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card to run a boat with a 10 horsepower or larger engine. A photo ID must be carried with the card. You get the card by passing an approved boating safety course, and it never expires. Every boat on this page needs it.

Question 8

I am a boat dealer. How do I list my boats on The Marine Web?

Accepted Answer

Call us or use the Contact Us page. We add your boats with full-screen photos, specifications, price and location, plus a Call Us button that sends buyers straight to you. Your listings sit next to our boating resources on marinas, boat loans, insurance and surveyors, where buyers are already researching their purchase.
